Led by Faith” – Rising from the Ashes of the Rwanda Genocide” by Immaculee Ilibagiza with Steve Erwin. The author miraculously survived the savage killing spree in Rwanda that left most of her family & friends dead. It is the story of a naïve and vulnerable young woman, orphaned and alone, navigating through a bleak and dangerously hostile world with only an abiding faith in God to guide and protect her.

The Shack” – by William P. Young.  A daughter has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Recommended: Pastor Norine.
Available: Arnprior Library, Fiction. Also available in audio recording form.

Not Wanted on the Voyage” – is a novel by Canadian author Timothy Findley, which presents a magic realist post-modern re-telling of the Great Flood in the biblical Book of Genesis.
Recommended: Enid
Available: Arnprior Library, Fiction

The Red Tent” – by Anita Diamant. Her name is Dinah. In the Bible, her life is only hinted at in a brief and violent detour within the more familiar chapters of the Book of Genesis that tell of her father, Jacob, and his twelve sons. Told in Dinah’s voice, Anita Diamant imagines the traditions and turmoils of ancient womanhood–the world of the red tent. Deeply affecting, The Red Tent combines rich storytelling with a valuable achievement in modern fiction: a new view of biblical women’s lives.

The Robe” – by Lloyd C. Douglas.  The story of the soldier who tossed for Christ’s robe and won.  The book was one of the best-selling titles of the 1940s.

Pastrix” – by Nadine Bolz-Weber. Memoir of the cranky beautiful faith of a sinner and saint – a pastor who serves the most disadvantaged of society.  A searching, thoughtful, accepting and humorous approach to life and service by a former stand-up comedian.  This book was a New York Times bestseller.
